What is the 2023 BMW X5 MPG?

The 2023 BMW X5 comes with three engine options: a 3.0L BMW TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder engine that produces 375 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque, a version of the standard engine with an integrated electric motor that produces 483 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque, and a 4.4L BMW M TwinPower Turbo V8 engine that delivers up to 617 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque. All three engines are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and are available with either rear-wheel drive or xDrive all-wheel drive. With the standard engine and rear-wheel drive, the BMW X5 gets an EPA-estimated 23 city and 27 highway MPG. Choose the standard engine and all-wheel drive, and the vehicle gets the same MPG ratings. The more powerful 4.4L V8 engine with rear-wheel drive gets an EPA-estimated 13 city and 18 highway MPG. Finally, the 3.0L BMW TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder engine with the electric motor delivers up to an EPA-estimated 58 combined MPGe (miles per gallon of gasoline-equivalent).

What is Fuel Economy?

Fuel economy is a measure of how far a vehicle can travel on a given amount of fuel. It is usually expressed in miles per gallon. A vehicle with high fuel economy can travel farther on the same amount of fuel than a vehicle with low fuel economy. A vehicle with a higher fuel economy can help you save money on fuel and reduces the amount of emissions produced by the vehicle.

Tips for Maximizing Fuel Economy

When you choose a vehicle like the 2023 BMW X5, you also want to consider ways that you can maximize your fuel economy and take steps to get the most out of your fuel window. Here are some tips for maximizing your fuel economy:

Avoid rapid acceleration and heavy braking

Rapid acceleration and heavy braking can decrease fuel economy. Instead, try to accelerate and brake smoothly and gradually.

Maintain a steady speed

Driving at a steady speed on the highway can help maximize fuel economy. Use cruise control when possible to maintain a consistent speed.

Reduce unnecessary weight

The more weight a vehicle carries, the more fuel it consumes. Remove any unnecessary items from the vehicle to reduce its weight to improve fuel economy.

Keep tires properly inflated

Underinflated tires can decrease fuel economy. Check tire pressure regularly and keep tires properly inflated.

Use the right fuel

Be sure to use the recommended fuel for your vehicle. Using a lower octane fuel than recommended can decrease fuel economy and engine performance.
