At BMW of Jackson, we highly recommend you visit our dealership for regular BMW X5 service. To ensure the outstanding performance and reliability of this BMW SUV, it’s important to take care of it in Jackson, Clinton, Madison, and Ridgeland, Mississippi.

X5 MAINTENANCE INTERVALS

First, a word about the BMW X5 maintenance. In the old days, a maintenance interval was simply based on a time period or a certain odometer reading. Your BMW X5 comes with sensors and algorithms that work with the elapsed time and driving distance to monitor the vehicle itself. This information is then used to determine when maintenance should be performed. The maintenance reminder will not turn on until it is time for service—even if you aren’t hitting the “traditional” time or mileage intervals. Below, we’ll give you a better idea of when service should be performed.

X5 OIL CHANGE

Every year or 10,000 miles, the X5 will need to have the oil changed. Of course, you may be able to go a little longer depending on how you drive. Frequent stop-and-go city traffic, idling, and short trips will have more of an effect on your oil than long trips at steady, moderate speeds. If the oil has turned a dark color and is not the amber color it should be, it’s time for our service technicians to have a look.

What can you look out for if you’re not sure it’s time for an oil change? It’s possible that the fuel economy may decrease slightly or you may hear a knocking noise in the engine. If you detect either of these issues, schedule your next oil change with us.

CHANGING THE BMW X5 BRAKE PADS

The brake pads are what help bring your car to a safe stop. When these pads begin to wear down, you may hear a squeaking noise or a slight squeal when pressing down on the brake pedal. The maintenance system will track when it’s time for a brake pad change, which may come around the 30,000-mile or 40,000-mile mark. The brake fluid will also need to be monitored. If you find yourself having trouble stopping or needing to press down on the brake pedal harder, it’s time for fresh brake fluid. It’s an essential part in any system, so be sure to stay on top of its maintenance!

TUNE UP WITH NEW SPARK PLUGS

The spark plug is what sends a signal to your engine to start the X5 every morning. However, it may wear down over time and the electrical current the spark plug sends may not properly reach the engine. Around the 60,000-mile mark, we’ll replace the spark plugs in your X5.

WE TAKE CARE OF YOUR BMW X5

BMW Ultimate Care, which is standard on all 2017 and newer models, ensures that your X5 is taken care of. BMW Ultimate Care comes with scheduled maintenance for three years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. Most basic maintenance is covered under this program.
