Our 2021 BMW 3 Series trim levels review takes a closer look at the different options you’ll have when choosing a 3 Series. Continue reading to find the best fit for your lifestyle.

BMW 3 Series 330i

Performance-wise, 3 Series drives are powered by a 2.0L BMW TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder engine that produces 255 horsepower. The engine is mated to an 8-speed Sport Automatic transmission with multiple shift modes and steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. That way, if you want to take control of shifting on your own, you’ll be able to do so. The cabin itself is warm and welcoming thanks to the SensaTec upholstery that provides the look and feel of leather without the need to maintain and care for the real thing. Plus, the fine Wood trim gives the cabin that luxury feel. The 14-way power front sport seats are a nice amenity, too, with 4-way power lumbar support and side bolsters that come in handy on those longer drives. Meanwhile, driver memory is standard for the exterior mirrors and seat positions, so even if someone else takes the wheel for a bit, your 3 Series will remember your preferred settings the next time you get inside.

BMW 3 Series M340i

The M340i is the 3 Series model that takes things to the next level. This BMW comes with a more powerful 3.0L BMW M TwinPower Turbo 6-cylinder engine. Instead of the 4-cylinder on the entry-level 3 Series, you’ll now have a V6 engine that generates 382 horsepower with eBoost 48V mild hybrid technology. There are several features you’ll only find with the M340i, including: M Sport differential, M Sport brakes, M Sport suspension, M rear spoiler. Multi-color, adjustable ambient lighting helps set the mood for your drives, too. Step inside the M340i and set it up the way you want. Live Cockpit Professional capability makes it easier to enjoy the 3 Series, too. This features a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 10.25-inch central information display. The iDrive 7.0 system can be controlled by your voice, the touchscreen, or the iDrive touchpad Controller, giving you full control over the music you play and the information you want to see.

BMW 3 Series 330e

As the name suggests, the BMW 3 Series 330e comes with electric enhancements. This is a plug-in hybrid edition of the 3 Series that brings together a combustion engine and an electric motor to maximize the driving experience. If you have a short trip to take or your workplace is not far from home, then you can use the all-electric range for those local trips with no gas needed. The hybrid-specific instrument cluster displays information about the motor, the current charging status, and electric or combined driving ranges so you’ll know exactly when to fill up the gas tank and when to charge your BMW.
