If you prefer all-wheel drive, make sure you select from among the xDrive trims.
For the 530i and 530i xDrive, the standard 2.0L BMW TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder engine comes with an 8-speed Sport Automatic transmission. Three driving modes give you a diverse performance range, including ECO PRO, COMFORT, and SPORT. This engine produces 248 horsepower and 257 lb-ft of torque for plenty of pep on the road.
The next two levels, the 540i and 540i xDrive, derive their power from the 3.0L BMW M TwinPower Turbo 6-cylinder engine. These trims produce 335 horsepower and 331 lb-ft of torque for even more zip for your commute and other travels. The same transmission and driving modes as in the 530i and 530i xDrive accompany this engine as well.
Two hybrid trims—the 530e and 530e xDrive—appear in this lineup, and they use the entry-level engine paired with an eDrive electric motor. This generates a maximum of 288 horsepower with 257 lb-ft of torque.
If you want the highest level of performance, the M550i xDrive might be the one for you. It can propel itself from 0 to 60 MPH in only 3.6 seconds. This can be achieved with its 4.4L BMW M TwinPower Turbo V8 engine that produces 523 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque.
